Remember when we added a chalk wall to our kitchen?
The wall is super fun- the chalk dust everywhere- not so much. I found some chalk MARKERS online (chalkink.com) and they rock! They write just like a pen and wipe off clean with a damp cloth- no dust! They have different sizes and a variety of colors. It says on their website that these are the markers Starbuck's uses on their chalkboards.
I tried them out over the weekend and put up a Thanksgiving message.
Cool, huh?! I can't wait to play with them more- did you notice I ordered the traditional Christmas colors? :)

How did I not know about these? I've been dying to use chalk paint somewhere in my house, but can't stand the thought of Chalk dust everywhere! Thanks for sharing :)

That's exactly what I thought! These are awesome!
ReplyDeleteI have heard you are not supposed to use chalk markers on chalkboard walls. They say it doesn't erase all the way. I'm hoping that's not the case. I have been wanting to use the markers for quite some time!
ReplyDeleteI am a fan of these too. They are also great on pantry chalkboard labels because they do not brush off. I just love the chalkboard in your kitchen. Such a great place for it.
ReplyDeletedid you draw that thanksgiving wreath? love it! HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
ReplyDeleteWord of caution...if it is left up too long, it will not come off all the way (the color will, but what you wrote won't). I had to repaint my kitchen chalk board!! UGH!!! It only seems to happen on surfaces painted with chalkboard paint. For instance, my SL chalkboard that came with a finished surface has been fine.
ReplyDeleteGood to know Lauren- I'll try taking mine off today to see what happens.
DeleteThank you!!!! I have never heard of these before. I have been dying to make a chalkboard for our home but the thought of all the chalk dust makes me crazy. You just solved my problem! Yay! Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteGenius gotta get some for myself :)
ReplyDeleteLove how the markers say "Join the chalk revolution" True, seems to be everywhere these days. Guess it's because it's so awesome, just like these markers!!!

I had no idea about this product. Thanks for the info. because I love these and am going to try them for sure!
ReplyDeleteI use these markers all the time (I work at starbucks and do all of our sign artwork) and it is true that if you leave them on for too long that they will leave a faint outline of whatever you have drawn/written on the surface. It helps to clean it off with windex though, instead of just soap and water.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! I love these! I wish they were not so pricey. I have seen something similar at Hobby Lobby.
ReplyDeleteI have those same markers and use them for labeling a lot - but they do tend to leave a "stain" - I've found that nail polish remover with acetone works well to erase. Your thanksgiving message is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThey are great and so much easier and less messy than chalk, well worth the extra $ over chalk. I've found window cleaner or vinager remove stubborn stains.
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny because I have a board in my kitchen and when you posted about yours I wondered how long you'd love it :) The dust is terrible. I too have the markers and love them!
ReplyDeleteI love mine! They have thema at Michael's.
ReplyDeleteyou can also find them at Michael's. At least that's where I bought mine a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteSo how long is "too long" to leave up your chalk writing?
